Fall 2026 Bama Wesley Alumni Homecoming Reunion Recap

It was so great to see alumni at Wesley catching up, reminiscing, and hanging out with current students at our homecoming reunion events!

If you didn't make it to homecoming, don't worry, we will have an opportunity to come together for a reunion in the Spring as well!

Saturday gave us an opportunity to enjoy some of our favorite Game Day traditions as well as help establish new traditions for Game Day at Wesley!

Time Honored Traditions

This year's Homecoming Weekend was filled with some of our favorite UA and Wesley traditions. We sent a group off to the Friday night pep rally after having a Grilled Cheese Day style dinner with Zac manning the griddle in the kitchen, apron on and spatula in hand, making grilled cheese to order, just like Ken did on grilled cheese day for so many of us. After UA's homecoming bonfire, we lit our own fire at Wesley and made smores while sharing some of our favorite Wesley memories.

Blending Traditions, New and Old

Saturday gave us an opportunity to enjoy some of our favorite Game Day traditions as well as help establish new traditions for Game Day at Wesley!

We started the day with grab and go breakfast before sending folks off to watch the Homecoming parade.

After the parade wrapped up we met back at Wesley for Tailgate Worship, a new Wesley tradition of a tailgate-style worship service a few hours before kickoff, leading into the all new Bama Wesley Tailgate, complete with delicious tailgate food, a tailgate party on the front lawn, and watching the big game on the big screen in the Great Room or outside in the tailgate area.

Tailgate Worship featured Rev. Monica Loyd Harbarger

Rev. Monica Loyd Harbarger, a Bama Wesley alumnus and Executive Director of United Counseling, was our guest preacher for the tailgate worship service. She delivered a timely message around the theme "And Yet", reminding us that God pulls us up above our expectations as God puts us in each other's lives when we need each other the most and provides opportunities to find blessing as we gather to remember those seasons.

It was a special time for current students to hear about how this place and the community who has gathered here for generations have been so sacred and important in each season of our shared ministry to this point. There is little doubt this group of current students will experience the legacy of community alumni and community members have worked so hard to establish and sustain here as they continue to grow during this pivotal season of their own lives and build on that legacy to ensure the future ministry of Bama Wesley on our campus and across creation as we send folks out into the next season of life.

Thank You!

Thank you to all of the Wesley Alumni who came to join in part or all of this special time to be together as we grow closer to one another and the God who brings us together!

We look forward to facilitating more frequent opportunities for our larger Bama Wesley community to come together to support one another, current students, and the future of ministry at Bama Wesley! So be on the lookout for emails, texts, and phone calls about how you can take part in building and supporting this community that has been so important to so many of us!
